Mother of Grace Shanks Sweeting of NH; Shirley Magee and her husband Jake; Margaret Shanks and her husband Richard; Daniel Sweeting and his wife Louise all of Brockton. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and grandmother of the late Derrek Sweeting. Sister of Anne Johnson and Rufus Gibbs both of Bridgewater and Henry Gibbs of Brockton.
Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at a 10 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 pm.

Jannie Sweeting died Tuesday morning after a lengthy illness. Born in Benson, Florida, daughter of the late Rufus W. and Margaritte E. (Lee) Gibbs. Resident of Brockton for 61 years. Graduate of Jacksonville High School, Florida. She had been a nursing aide in several local nursing homes until her illness. She devoted he life to her family and friends and was affectionately called “Mother” by all.She collected Hummels and knick-knacks from around the world. She was a talented seamstress making clothes for all her children. She was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church.
She is survived by her former husband Daniel Sweeting, three daughters, Grace Shanks Sweeting of NH; Shirley Magee and her husband Jake of Brockton; Margaret Shanks and her husband Richard of Brockton, a son, Daniel Sweeting and his wife Louise of Brockton, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, a sister Anne Johnson of Bridgewater and two brothers, Rufus Gibbs of Bridgewater and Henry Gibbs of Brockton, many nieces and nephews.
Grandmother of the late Derrek Sweeting and sister of the late William A. Gibbs, George N. Gibbs and Margaret E. Gibbs.
