Mary Ella (Turner) Russell, age 94, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at her home in Middlebury, Vermont.
Mrs. Russell was born in Medford, MA on October 2, 1916. She was the daughter of Jesse and Ella (Leach) Turner. She earned her degree in Childhood Education from Lesley College. She taught for several years until her marriage to Allan Russell. She was a stay at home mom and returned to teaching when her children were grown. She and her husband made their home in Medford. Mr. Russell died in 1985. She has been a resident of Middlebury since 2003 moving here to make her home with her daughter. She enjoyed attending Project Independence.
Surviving are two daughters Elaine Bodurtha of Middlebury, Vermont and Alice Berglund of Lynnfield, one son Donald Russell and his wife Amy of Salem, New Hampshire, seven Grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. She will be greatly missed by many friends, both in Middlebury and Medford.
Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, May 10, 2011, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Her funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home, following visitation at 1 PM.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
