Rita B. Chadwick, 98 years old, of Windham, NH passed away early Friday morning at the Exeter Hospital.
Rita was born in Lawrence, MA, married to the late Gilbert Chadwick, she moved to Windham in 1947 with their 8 children. She opened “Ma Chadwick’s Bakery” in early 1950’s; managed the flower department for WT Grants in Salem; worked for Sanders Associates and in the library at Woodbury High School. Rita loved to bake, sew, garden and had a passion for yard sales. A member of St. Matthews Church, She was a mother to all that entered her home or needed her help. She had a youthful spirit and strong determination. She will be most remembered for her compassionate and giving nature.
Rita is survived by her sons: Robert J. Chadwick and wife Barbara of Terra Bonne, Oregon; Kenneth Chadwick and wife Dorothy of Dover, NH; daughter : Marie Johnson of Windham, NH; daughter-in-laws: MaryAnne Chadwick of Carbondale, CO; Jeanette Chadwick of CO; and Ann Chadwick of Athol, MA; 28 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her 5 sons: George Chadwick of Carbondale, CO; Gilbert Chadwick of Sacramento, CA; James Chadwick of San Luis, CO; Albert Chadwick of Windham, NH; and Clifford Chadwick of Athol, MA.
Calling hours will be from 3-5 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday May 10th at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11th at 11:30AM at St. Matthew’s Church in Windham, NH. Burial will follow in Cemetery on the Hill, Windham, NH.
