Obituary

Virginia C. Roemer, 94, of Washington passed away at 8:15pm Friday May 6, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.

She was born on September 17, 1916 in Aurora, Illinois the daughter of Harry and Anna Moline. She married Donald W. Roemer on March 4, 1950 in Henry, Illinois. He passed away on April 16, 2007 in Peoria. Her stepson Roger also preceded her in death on October 12, 2009 in Minier, as well as one brother and three sisters.

Surviving is one stepdaughter Sharon (Ken) Heitzman of Bartonville, and one stepdaughter-in-law Shirley Roemer of Minier. She is further survived by three step-grandchildren Daniel (Kim) Heitzman, Roger (Trish) Roemer Jr. and Dawn (Cletis) Burroughs as well as three step-great grandchildren Zac Munson, Abby Roemer, and Lauren Kennedy. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was a graduate of Henry High school; she then attended Brown’s Business College in Peoria. Virginia was a member of the former Washington Women’s Club, and an avid bridge player belonging to several bridge clubs in Washington. She and her late husband spent many winters in Destin, FL where she again played bridge.

Graveside services will be 11am Tuesday May 10th at the North Limestone Presbyterian Cemetery in rural Hanna City with Rev. John Bates officiating. At the request of Virginia there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to the ICC Performing Arts Center, 1 College Dr., East Peoria, IL 61635.
