Richard Verl Smith 57, of Clarksville died May 6, 2011 at the V.A. Hospital in Nashville. Services will be Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. Denman Frazer officiating. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
Richard was born in Shaftsbury, England on October 9, 1953. He is the son of the late Thomas M. Smith and Margaret A. Joslin, who survives. He was a Fiberoptic Lineman for Dow Chemical and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was a a member of the James Tool Company race team in Taylorsville, N.C.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret A. Joslin, Clarksville; three brothers; Timothy B. Smith Hendersonville, Christopher K. Smith and Robert M. Smith both of Clarksville. One sister, Lisa A. Joslin of Clarksville. Pallbearers will be Sandford Aydlett, Dale Cherry, John Farmer, Michael T. Smith, Danny Head and Christopher Keith Smith, II.
