Obituary

WAYLAND: Kenneth W. Lavers, 85, died peacefully in the comfort of his family on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham following a period of declining health.
He was born in Boston on June 2, 1925 the son of the late Howard W. Lavers and Florence E. (Rice) Lavers.
Kenneth is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 65 years, Ruth B. (Chase) Lavers of Wayland. He is also survived by his loving children; Diana Ruth Lavers of Wayland; Richard K. Lavers and his wife Elaine of Riverside, RI and Phillip D. Lavers of Wayland. He was the brother of Evelyn DeLong of Bridgewater. Also survived by his grandsons; Jason Lavers and his wife Stacey of Johnston, RI and Jeremy Lavers and his wife Penny of Derry, NH and six great grandchildren.
Kenneth has been a resident of Wayland for over 62 years and previously resided in Dorchester where he graduated from Patrick D. Campbell High School. He served his country proudly during World War II as a Private first class with the United States Army. He retired after over 40 years of dedicated service as a Mill Right Machinist for the Dennison Mfg. Co. of Framingham. For many years he was an active member of the Wellesley Park Assembly of God and served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher and with the choir. He was a tenor and a soloist for many years and an original member of the Golden Tones of Wayland. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. He enjoyed doing carpentry and handyman projects around his home. In recent years he has been associated with his family with the First Baptist Church of Sudbury.
At the request of his family there will be no funeral home visitations and graveside services will be private.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the First Baptist Church of Sudbury, 162 Landham Road, Sudbury.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial gifts in Kenneth’s memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
