Obituary

WORCESTER-Tauno W. “Bill” Laine, 77, of 931 Pleasant Street died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 26th in UMass-Memorial Medical Center. He leaves his wife of 52 years Marjory (Wykes) Laine, 2 daughters Andrea wife of John Farrell of Southboro and Paula wife of Gary Skorb of Rutland, a brother Norman Laine of Rockville, MD, 5 grandchildren, David, Jennifer and Jeffrey Skorb and Katharine and Andrew Farrell, a nephew, 2 nieces and 3 great-nieces.

He was born in Worcester the son of John and Mary (Maki) Laine. Mr. Laine was a 1944 graduate of Commerce High School and a veteran of WW2 serving as a quartermaster in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He had worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years retiring in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion, the Jewish Community Center and a former member of the Athelston Masonic Lodge. Mr. Laine enjoyed time with his family, reading, swimming and traveling.

The funeral is Friday, January 30th at 11:00 AM in All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, January 29th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
