Clarinda P. (Pina) Barros, 96, of New Bedford died Thursday May 5, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Candido L. Barros.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mariana (Lomba) Pina, she moved to Boston in 1960 and had resided in New Bedford for the past 44 years.
Mrs. Barros was formerly employed as a presser for Eastern Sportswear until her retirement.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two sons, Manuel P. Barros and Precilio Barros, both of New Bedford; four daughters, Judith Gonsalves of New Bedford, Maria Rose of Georgia, Zilma Carter of New Bedford, and Regina Perry of Osterville; a stepson, Daniel Barros of Pawtucket, RI; 13 grandchildren; and ten great-granchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
