Willie Mae Vickers Baker, age 80, of Douglas, GA, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Baker was born to the late Willie and Mary Eudora Pope Vickers in Douglas, GA on June 29, 1930. She was preceded in death by a sister, Luenell Vickers and brother, Rev. Wiley Vickers. Mrs. Baker was a graduate of Satilla High School and had been employed by SunTrust Bank for over 30 years. She had her church membership at Trinity Non Denominational Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with burial following in the Douglas City Cemetery. Survivors include: son: William Doyle (Lois) Baker, Douglas, GA; daughter: Sheila Baker Adams, Douglas, GA; brothers: Harold Vickers, Douglas, GA, Henry Vickers, Hapeville, GA, Richard Vickers, Ambrose, GA; sisters: Bennie Vickers McDonald and Vicki Vickers Giddens, Ambrose, GA; step mother: Vira Hall Vickers, Ambrose, GA; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Sims Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
