Orin Q. McCarty, 80, of Irwin County, Georgia died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Life Care Center.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, May 6, 2011 at Irwinville Cemetery with Rev. Sonny Pate officiating. Visitation will be held 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. McCarty was born March 28, 1931 in Worth County to the late Will Smith McCarty and the late Lillie Mae Gilliam Popwell. He was a farmer and lived in Irwin County most of his life. Mr. McCarty served in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He attended Irwinville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sister: Sue Phillips of Albany; brother and sister-in-law: Robert & Lois McCarty of Columbia, SC; nieces and nephews: Robert McCarty, Jr., of Fitzgerald, Brenda Reed of Tifton, Michael Phillips of Albany and Sharon Hershberger of Cuthbert. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Graham McCarty.
