Joseph C. Hoard, 77, of Putnam Pike, Greenville, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the husband of Joan C. (Cinquegrano) Hoard. They had been married for 46 years.
Born in Manhattan, NY, a son of the late Joseph R. and Eleanor L. (Bagien) Hoard. He lived in Greenville since 1973 previously living in Providence and Johnston.
He had been a Cable Technician for the former NYNEX for 26 years retiring in 1991. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Hoard was Cub Master and then Scout Master for Troop 49, Providence and was Scout Master for Troop 1, Greenville. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the St. Philip Men’s Club.
Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Michael J. Hoard of West Warwick, James M. Hoard and his wife, Lauren of North Kingstown and Steven A. and his wife, Jennifer of West Greenwich. He was the grandfather of Michael, Jr., Mathew, Larissa, Madeleine. Leah, Victoria, Timothy, Alexandria and Anthony and great-grandfather of Joseph, Kyra, Shiann, Mackenzie, Sophia and Tyler .
His funeral will be held Friday at 8:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI 02828. Burial will military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-8pm.
