TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Emily T. (Aceto) Castro, age 81, a resident of Tewksbury for over five decades, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, May 3, surrounded by her family, after a one month fight with Leukemia. She was the beloved wife of Albert F. Castro, who died in 1993.
She was born in Cambridge, on December 1, 1929, one of six children of the late Constantino and Evangelina (Mello) Aceto. She was raised in Cambridge and moved to Tewksbury in 1957 to raise her two sons.
She was a communicant of St. William's Church in Tewksbury.
In her earlier years, she was a sales clerk at Simon's department store in the Wilmington Plaza. In her later years, she found numerous friendships and became active at the Tewksbury Senior Center.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert F. Castro Jr. and his wife Donna (Becotte) of Littleton, NH, and James E. Castro and his wife Vicki (Proctor) of Cocoa, FL; six grandchildren, Kristin and Nicole Castro of FL, Krystle and Vanessa Castro of NH, James Castro of Boston and Allen Castro of Haverhill; four great grandchildren, Julianna, Jayden, Cameron and Mia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her five siblings, Joe, Johnny, Ann, Helen and Mary.
Following her cremation, graveside committal prayers were offered Monday, May 9,in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorial donations to the VNA of Middlesex East, 607 North Ave, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
