Mr. Goodlett was born on February 13, 1927 to the late Robert William Goodlett and Edna Jones Goodlett in Gadsden, AL. In his early years, he worked with Curtis Publishing Co. traveling all over parts of Alabama helping schools raise funds for their projects through magazine sales. The last 30 years of his life were spent printing and publishing books through his local business Columbus Bookbinders and Printers. He took pride in being an honest and hardworking businessman. He remained devoted to the Lord and his church throughout his life. His close friendship with Dr. Mario Rivera enabled him to assist in raising the founding support for the Evangelistic Mission to Puerto Rico. His years of travel with Dr. Rivera visiting churches were some of the best of his life. He was a member of The Gideons International for 52 years and never hesitated to kindly share with anyone the goodness of Christ and his offer of salvation. He loved his family dearly. Each member brought special joy to his life.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rubye Goodlett of Columbus; three children, Nancy Goodlett Hamner of Columbus, Thomas William Goodlett and his wife, Tanya of Columbus and James Keith Goodlett and his wife, Peggy of Fitzgerald, GA; six grandchildren, Jason Daniel Hamner, David Ryan Hamner, Lydia Louise Goodlett, Matthew Christopher Goodlett, Andrew Benjamin Goodlett and Rebekah Marianne Fallin and her husband, Jonathan Neil Fallin.
