Mr. Albert C. Rourke, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved husband of the late Geraldine M. (Beebee) Rourke, died at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on Monday, April 18, 2011. He was 76 years old.
Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on October 9, 1934, Al was the beloved son of the late Albert C. and Marion (Horgan) Rourke. He was an Air Force veteran, serving in Korea from August 6, 1952, until receiving his honorable discharge on July 13, 1956, from Manhattan Beach, Florida. While serving in the military, Mr. Rourke attained the rank of Basic Airman and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his exemplary service.
Mr. Rourke worked in the Parks Department for the City of Medford for many years. In his spare time, Mr. Rourke enjoyed spending time at the American Legion in Medford and also the VFW in Medford.
He was the loving father of Brenda J. and her husband Donald Comeau of Medford, cherished grandfather of Justin and Amber Comeau and Lindsey Dutkiewicz and devoted brother of Dorothy Martell and the late Sandra Morrill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford, Friday at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
