Obituary

GROSSMAN, Cynthia Estelle Rich - Born January 17, 1928, died peacefully at home Saturday evening, April 30th. She was the matriarch of a large and loving extended family, who enjoyed her warmth and wit. Cynthia was known by many as Ma Grossman. Her enjoyment in life included friendships with vendors at the Camden farmers market who called her “Dearie” to her beloved rescue dogs. She threw legendary parties, was an avid gardener, bird watcher, accomplished cook and a nationally recognized interior decorator. Mrs. Grossman was a lover of life who believed in hard work. She was a staunch patriot. Until recently, she drove an enormous 1995 red, Chevrolet station wagon she affectionately called Bulky Roll. On the rear fender was a bumper sticker that read “A Tax Cut is a Pay Raise.” She resided in Weston, Massachusetts and summered in Camden and Rockport, Maine. Mrs. Grossman was a quiet practitioner of philanthropy. She supported families in need, the Epiphany School, and multiple divisions of The Peabody Essex Museum to name a few. She now joins her husband, the love of her life, Everett P. Grossman and her beloved daughter, Tory. She is survived by her sister, a son, a daughter and son-in-law, her three granddaughters, several nieces and nephews and her canine “kids”.
