Obituary

Alfred K. Sullivan, 84, passed away on April 29th, surrounded by all of his children, at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH after a lengthy illness.

Born in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Irene (Pomerleau) Sullivan. He graduated from Central Catholic in Lawrence and from St. Anselm College. Alfred served in the US Navy at the end of WW II, having been trained as a flight radioman. He married Jane “Jean” McNab in 1948 and moved to Salem, NH where they raised six children.

Alfred taught school for many years in the Haverhill school system before retiring in 1978 and he was also a Salem, NH Police Officer for many years. In 1969, they moved to East Kingston, NH, and later retired to Florida. More recently, they returned to New Hampshire, living for a time at the home of their daughter, Debbie in Salem and in 2007 moved to the home of their daughter, Judy in Stratham.

He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Jean in 2009 and his son Daniel in 1978.

Alfred is survived by his son Bruce and his wife Pat of Dunbarton, daughters Debbie Desantis and her husband Steve of Londonderry,
Judy Dowling and her husband Dana of Stratham,
son Michael and his wife Elaine of Debary, FL, daughter Pat Dagostino of Kensington and brother Martin Sullivan and his wife Eila of Sanford, FL.

He also leaves twelve grandchildren, Jeffrey Sullivan and his wife Maria of Tuono, VA, Jennifer Morin and husband Mike of Wilmington, NC, Pamela White and husband John of Londonderry, Jessica Thompson and husband Tim of Concord, NH, Daniel Sullivan of Manchester, Amy Labossiere of Salem, NH, Allison Dowling of Burlington, VT, Emily Dowling of Boston, MA, Shannon Sullivan and Ryan Sullivan of Debary, FL, Bryan Dagostino of Portsmouth, NH and Jason Dagostino of Burlington, VT, 18 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews

Calling hours are Tues., May 3rd from 4-8 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.

Private graveside services will be on Wednesday.
