Obituary

Rose J. (Homsy) Haddad of Natick, passed away on April 29, 2011, two weeks after her 111th birthday.
Born in Damascus Syria in 1900, Rose was thought to be the oldest Arab American. Rose came to the United States in the early 1900s and settled in Natick. She was an original member of the congregation of the Church of St. John of Damascus. Over the years, Rose was fortunate enough to see much of the U.S. and Europe, and has twice traveled back to Syria; however, there is no place she would rather be than in Natick, spending quality time with her children, grandchildren great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Rose was the dear and devoted wife of the late John A. Haddad. Beloved mother of George J. Haddad of NJ, Mitchell J. Haddad and his wife Marion of Natick, Jamila H. Nawfel of ME, Alfred J Haddad and his wife Marjorie of Arlington, the late Lillian Khouri, Russell J. Haddad and Gloria Matook. Loving mother-in-law of Arlene Haddad of Natick and the late Antoon Khouri, Rachel Haddad, Dr. Elias Nawfel, and Frederick Matook. Cherished "Taita" of 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Rose is predeceased by 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Rose's Funeral service was held Tuesday May 3, 2011 at the Church of St. John of Damascus 300 West St. Dedham. Contributions in Rose's memory may be made to the Church.

Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
