Michael D. McGrath, of Stoneham passed away April 28th at the Golden Living Center in Lexington, at the age of 53, following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Sharon A. (Buccheri) and together they shared 26 years of marriage. Born in Melrose he was the son of William J. McGrath of Woburn and the late Mary L. (Scandura) McGrath.
Michael worked as a computer network engineer and worked for many years with Lotus, IBM and more recently with Lincoln Labs. He many interests and enjoyed traveling, photography, gemology and mineralogy. He was a member of the Boston Audio Society, IEEE Assoc. and the Association for Computing Machinery
In addition to his wife and father, Michael is survived by his sister, Shaye Leary and her husband Joseph of Woburn, a brother, Stephen McGrath and his wife Cathy of Vaile, AZ. He is further survived by his father-in-law Paul Buccheri of Stuart, FL, Brother-in-law Ron Buccheri and his wife Mary of Wilmington, sister-in-law Donna Pyatt of Stuart. FL. He was the loving uncle of Joseph Leary, Stephen McGrath Jr., Jason Buccheri, Richard and Jeff Pyatt.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Tuesday, May 3rd, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Monday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
