Obituary

Charles J. Carney, 68, of Brockton died April 27, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He was the loving husband for 46 years of Rosanne (Clark) Carney. Born, raised and educated in Boston, he was a son of the late Francis Carney and Lillian (Lambert) (Carney) Rideout. Charlie had been a longtime resident of Brockton and been employed by the Brockton School Department for 29 years. He served in the Army and had been stationed in Germany for two years and was a member of the DAV. An avid Boston Sports fan and he enjoyed movies, cooking and time with his family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Scott Carney of Brockton, Bridget Raithel and her husband Marc of Brockton, Kerry Bresnahan and her husband Michael of Quincy and Kara Brewster and her husband George of Hanover, ten grandchildren who he adored Alexis Carney, Brittany Raithel, Conor Bresnahan, Fallon Raithel, Madison Brewster, Saxon Bresnahan, Hunter Brewster, Sloan Brewster, Payton Raithel and Chase Brewster; three brothers Richard Carney of Holbrook, Wayne Rideout of Halifax and Mark Rideout of Millis; his aunts Darlene Lambert of Hanover and Geraldine Lambert of Halifax and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Walter Carney and Emerson Rideout. Much loved son in law of the late Ralph and Geraldine Clark.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 4-8pm. Funeral procession forming at the funeral home Tuesday at 8am with a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Donations in memory of Charles may be made to Tufts Medical Center, Division of Nephrology and Kidney Disease, 800 Washington St., #391, Boston, MA 02111.
