Bridgewater, and the late Jeanette Rolfe, Susie and Stephen Rossi. Also survived by 15 grandchildren.
Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday at 10am. Funeral mass in St. Ann Church W. Bridgewater at 11am. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8pm. Chester J. Rossi, 82, of West Bridgewater, Mass., proprietor of The Ice House, Inc. in Brockton, Mass. died Saturday at the Brockton Hospital after a short illness.He was the husband of Rose K. (Beaton) for 60 years. Born in West Bridgewater, Mass., he was a son of the late Ernesta (Lucchetti) and Joseph Rossi. He had been a lifelong resident of West Bridgewater,MA.
Mr. Rossi graduated from West Bridgewater High School and attended Springfield College. He was a coast guard veteran of World War II. He was a member and past president of the Holy Name Society at St. Ann's Church in West Bridgewater. Mr. Rossi was the first president of Dollars for Scholars.
He owned and operated The Ice House, Inc. for 40 years. He previously had owned ice plants in Newport, RI and Wilmington, Delaware.
He was a member and past president of the New England Ice Association. He was recipient of the Warren Pierce Award. He served on the Board of Directors for the International Packaged Ice Association and was inducted into the International Packaged Ice Association's Hall of Fame in 1995. Mr. Rossi enjoyed working, sports, and traveling.
