William Anthony Mendence, age 80 of Somerset formerly of Riverside, RI passed away April 29, 2011. He was the husband of Alice (Aguiar) Mendence, formerly Brillo and the late Charlotte (Kallenberg) Mendence. He was the son of the late Frank A. & Susie (Cinelli) Mendence. He was a retired upholstery cutter at Harvey Prober, a parishioner of St. John of God Church and a founding member of the Matador Drum and Bugle Corp, the 1st marching band in RI.
Besides his wife Alice of Somerset, William was the father of Susan Jean Montgrain of West Warwick, William Francis Mendence of Riverside, Paul Edward Mendence of CT and the late Michael David Mendence(his wife Laura). He was the brother of Carol Giodano of N. Providence, Barbara Ramer of E. Providence and the late Dolores Barbosa, grandfather of 11, great grandfather of 10 and uncle to several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St., Fall River TUESDAY at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 9 A.M. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours MONDAY 4-8 P.M.
