Obituary

Joseph F. DeCanto, born in Honolulu, Hawaii, died at his home in Naperville, IL Friday April 29, 2011. Joseph was a long time resident of Clarksville, TN and decorated retiree from the U.S. Army as First Sergeant serving proudly in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Joseph is the loving husband of Deborah Griffey DeCanto and proud father to sons John Glenn DeCanto, Joseph Evans DeCanto, and daughter Vicki Lynn Wright. He has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Joseph is the son of the late Nancy Mokunui and John DeCanto Sr. He is the loving sibling of sisters Doreen Chock (Hamilton), Myrtle DeCanto, Merlene Flores, Maylene Keamo, Carolyn Drew, Charlotte Lyman , Joretta Balles, and of his brother, the late John DeCanto Jr (Yvonne). Joseph attended Immaculate Conception Church in Clarksville and is a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday May 3rd; Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison Street , Clarksville, TN; service at 1:00 p.m.; burial following at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Highway 41-A, Clarksville, TN. Pallbearers will include Hamilton Chock, Matthew Griffey, Chad Griffey, Aaron Akin, Darol Walker, and Jason Campbell. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
