Gladys Boatright Metts, age 92, died at her home in Oxford, MS on April 28, 2011.
She was born in Oxford, MS on August 28, 1918 to the late Tom and Elvada Tallant Boatright. Gladys was a homemaker who was devoted to her family, extended family, friends and neighbors. She was a lifelong, active member of Yellow Leaf Baptist Church in Oxford, MS.
Visitation will be held on April 30, 2011 from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at Yellow Leaf Baptist Church in Oxford, MS. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:30 PM at Yellow Leaf Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry East officiating. Interment will be in the Yellow Leaf Baptist Church Cemetery with Kerry Metts, Kade Metts, Brent Metts, Brandon Metts, Chris Metts, Will Metts, Craig Clark and Jeff Nelson serving as pallbearers.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Freida Metts of Oxford, MS; one son, Harold Metts of MO; one brother, Earl Boatright of Oxford, MS; two grandchildren, Kerry Metts of Oxford, MS and Brent Metts of Grenada, MS; four great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Metts; two sisters, Etta Mae Black and Dorothy Richey; three brothers, James Tallant, Earnest Boatright and Curt Boatright.
