GLOUCESTER: Jackie Bono, 65, “Face of the Fiesta,” died early Easter morning, April 24, 2011, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following an extended illness.
Born in Gloucester on April 4, 1946, he was the son of the late John and Ursula (Genovese) Bono.
He had resided between Gloucester and Cape May, New Jersey and had fished aboard numerous vessels including, the Red Diamond, Scott and Mike and The Dolphin.
Jackie was a longtime member of the St. Peter’s Club and lived for St. Peter’s Fiesta.
He is survived by his brothers, Jimmy, husband of Barbara Bono and Georgie, husband of Janice Bono; a nephew, Nick Bono; aunts, Josie Piraino, Cathy Baptista, Nancy Clooney, Mary Axelsson and Antonette Harrison; his uncle Michael Genovese, many cousins and dear friends including, Kerry and Paul Favazza.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, June 20th at 5 p.m. at Pavillion Beach followed by a gathering at the St. Peter's Club. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
