Obituary

Richard A. Carmichael, 70, of East Peoria passed away at 10:02am Sunday April 24, 2011 at his residence with family by his side.

Richard was born on July 27, 1940 in Peoria the son of Harry A. and Helen I. Martin Carmichael. He married Jacqueline E. Collins on September 27, 1959 in Peoria. She survives along with their children Richard A. (Renay) Carmichael Jr. of Silvis, IL. Ralph (Susan) Carmichael of Bradford, IL. Rebecca (Scott) Moore of Silvis, IL. Ronald (Anna) Carmichael of Galva, IL. and Randal (Lora) Carmichael of Cambridge, IL,

Also surviving are his mother Helen Donaldson of East Peoria, as well as 6 grandchildren Rikki Lynn, Jolee, Gunnar, Sara, Emily, and Abby, one great granddaughter Skylee.

He is also survived by five brothers Charles (Brenda) Carmichael of Hampton, IL, James (Connie) Carmichael of Varna, IL, Steve (Noni) Carmichael of Garfield, AR, Tom Johnson and Robert (Brenda) Johnson Sr. both of East Peoria, IL, Three sisters Cheryl (Jerry) Wood of Sparland, IL, Sandra Hufnagel of Peoria, IL and Bonnie (Ron) Master of Pekin, IL.

His father, and one sister Nancy Carmichael-Williams preceded him in death.

He was a US Navy Veteran serving from September of 1957 until honorably discharged in March of 1967. He was a journeyman electrician. He was the co-owner of Dick’s Sport Shop and Jacki’s Tackle with his wife for several years before moving to Louisiana where he owned and operated a camp ground and was a self employed insurance broker before retiring and moving back to Illinois. He was a life member of the DAV and the AMVETS.

Services will be 10am Thursday April 28, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday also at the funeral home from 5pm until 7pm. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery in rural Washburn. Memorials may be given to the family, and they will forward to a charity of their choice.

Jim Carmichael, Steve Carmichael, Tony Collins, Robbie Johnson, Scott Moore and Dennis Hunsinger will be serving as pallbearers.
