Currie F. Brooks, age 73, died on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born June 10, 1937 in Water Valley, MS to the late Frank E. Brooks and Eva Jordan Brooks. Mr. Brooks retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation after 30 years of service. Currie was an active member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church. He loved all of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Currie’s primary interest after retirement was visiting with friends and assisting customers at the Sylva Rena grocery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Sylva Rena Baptist Church with Bro. David Roberson and Bro. Freddie Moorman officiating. Interment will be in the Sylva Rena Cemetery with Daryl Fultz, Steve Fultz, Greg Terrell, Caleb Terrell, Colby Terrell, Heath Brooks, Justin Brooks, Brandon Brooks, Jordan Hodge and Austin Hodge serving as pallbearers. Larry Lawler will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Currie is survived by two sisters, Eva Fultz (Ted-Deceased) of Shreveport, LA and Billie Terrell (Monty) of Water Valley, MS; three brothers, Robert G. "Bob" Brooks (Pat), Frank B. Brooks (Raye) and Travis Brooks (Amy) all of Water Valley, MS and nine nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Brad C. Brooks.
