Edson R. Duquette, 83, of West Bridgewater died unexpectedly April 23, 2011 at Boston Medical Center. He was the loving husband for 65 years of Esther (Forman) Duquette. Born in Saranac Lake, NY he was the son of the late Alfred and Victoria (Rivers) Duquette. Edson was raised and educated in Brockton and had been a resident of West Bridgewater for the past 50 years. He was a WWII veteran who served in the US Navy. For over 50 years he owned and operated South Shore Sportswear in Brockton. Edson enjoyed gardening, cards and golf and had been a member of Wedgewood Country Club. Devoted to his family, he was also a kind and giving man to others.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters Denise Pensinger and her husband Mark of Middleboro, Brenda Silva and her husband Jeff of Middleboro and Pamela Capachione and her husband Paul of Rochester; two sons Edson Duquette, Jr. and his wife Lori of Assonet and Gary Duquette and his wife Deborah of West Bridgewater; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a brother Francis Golden of Plattsburg, NY, and a sister Anna Ferrini of Brockton. He was the father of the late Karen LaPlante and brother of the late Lawrence, Wilfred, Maurice, Robert, Donald, Richard, Alfred and Ralph Duquette, Rita Loiselle, Dorothy Lachimia, Connie Zarella, Claudette Hayward, Shirley Truman, Nancy Duquette and Theresa Fortin.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 5-8pm. Funeral Service in the funeral home Friday at 10am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
