Jean M. Hebert, 93, until recently a resident at St. Elizabeth's Court, 109 Melrose Street Providence, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 100 Borden St., Providence, RI.
Born in Warden, PQ, Canada, he was the son of the late John Baptiste Hebert and Oiada (Tremblay) Hebert. He was the husband of the late Pauline T. (LeRoux) Hebert.
Mr. Hebert , who was employed for many years at Peter Pan Ice Cream Co., Woonsocket, retired over 35 years ago.
An enthusiastic deep-sea fisherman, for close to forty years he piloted his own boats out of Westport, MA, and after he retired, out of Little Torch Key, FL.
He was an active member of the American-French Genealogical Society in Woonsocket.
He leaves four sons, Br. Paul J. Hebert, SC, of Pascoag, Roland H. Hebert of Warwick, Raymond R. Hebert of Woonsocket, Roger J. Hebert of Coventry; one daughter Julie H. Richard of Woonsocket; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His sister was the late Bernadette Tardif of New Bedford, MA.
The funeral will be held Thursday April 28, at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Wednesday, April 27, 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
