TEWKSBURY - Edward J. McLaughlin, age 83, a retired MITRE Corp. employee, died Monday morning, April 25, at his home, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Carol J. (Albertelli) McLaughlin, who died in 2002.
He was born in Cambridge, October 9, 1927, a son of Patrick and Mary (O'Keefe) McLaughlin. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy during WW2, and upon honorable discharge, re-enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he served as a radioman.
Mr. McLaughling graduated from M.I.T., and went on to work at MITRE Corp in Bedford as an electrical engineer. He retired in 1988, after over 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks, and a communicant of St. William's Church in Tewksbury.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Cason of Ashby, Eileen and Donald Wright of Leominster; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Marie McLaughlin of FL; two sisters, Diane McLaughlin of Billerica and Marie McKenzie of Cambridge; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also father of the late Edward F. McLaughlin.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, March 28, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorial donations to Tewksbury Food Pantry, 999 Whipple Rd., Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
