Obituary

James E. Hitch, 71, of Milford, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Alice M. (O’Brien) Hitch to whom he married in 1959.

Born in Somerville on May 12, 1939, he was a son of the late William G. and Lillian M. (Corliss) Hitch.

Jim was a resident of Milford for the past 12 years and formerly resided in Medway and Somerville.

Retiring in 2000, Jim worked at the Medfield State Hospital for 35 years. After retirement, he worked per diem as a security guard at Milford Regional Medical Center for 10 years.

Jim was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox and Celtics fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jane Marie Hitch-Cunha of Brooklyn, NY and Judi Hitch of Somerville and his grandson, Jayden Cunha.

He is also survived by his brother, John Hitch of Boston, his nephew, Andrew O’Brien and four nieces, Ruthann Ouellette, Lisa Dipersio, Anne O’Brien and Cathy O’Brien.

He was a brother of the late Bobby Hitch.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway on Wednesday, April 27 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m.
