Edd Willard Dunn, 95, of Tifton died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Roger Mays and Rev. Jimmy Voyles will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Wayne Dunn, Eddie Dunn, Timmy Dunn, John Dunn, Steve Warren, Ronnie Dunn, Russ Carns, DeWayne Wetherington, Malcolm Brantley and Austin Dunn will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Bryan, Gibbs Patrick, Kenny Brownlee, Jamie Dillard, Jones Ponder, Walt Young, Julian Avery, Jerry Barlow, Dr. Steve Rigdon, Bobby Jones, Ellis Whittington, Gary Vowell, Roy Jones, Tommy Lee Stone, Jamie Fulp, John Donaldson, Ron Carns, Monty Spinks, Bob Kennon, Byron Ellis and Lee Powell. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 25, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Dunn was born on October 27, 1915 in Thomaston and was the son of Eddie May Dunn and Rosie Bell McCrary Dunn, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Anna Rose Dunn; five brothers; and two sisters. He was a farmer and was active in the farming operation until he was 90 years old. He was a member of Omega Methodist Church. He served as a Staff Sergeant and flight engineer of a B-29 Dunbar in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a mentor for numerous young farmers; Chairman of Stewards at Omega Methodist Church; Chairman of Gold Kist Corporation.
Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife, Hilda “Gwynett” Hammock Dunn of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Joni Dunn and Johnny and Kay Dunn, all of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Norma Jean and Wayne Warren of Omega; nine grandchildren, Rose Carns, Steve Warren, Sonya Fulp, Stacie Donaldson, John Dunn Jr., Deidra Jackson, Jill Peed, Austin Dunn and Julee Beth Dunn; and seven great-grandchildren, Russ Carns, Ross Carns, Kaytee Donaldson, Sam Donaldson, Ashton Fulp, William Fulp and Reagan Fulp.
