Louis “Roy” Lopes, age 80, of Fall River, passed away peacefully April 21, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Charron) Lopes and the son of the late Joseph & Philomena (Soares Borges) Lopes. Prior to retiring, Roy worked at the Brown University Book Store for 22 years. He was a parishioner of St. Michael Church.
Roy was the father of Robert A. Lopes of Westport, Roy Lopes of Somerset, & Diane M. Washington (husband Tony) of Fall River, the brother of James (Hank) Lopes (wife Dolores)& Elsie Cabral both of Fall River, Richard Lopes of Warren, & the late Edward Lopes. He was the grandfather of Robbie Lopes & wife Karen; Dawn Sousa & husband Roy; Alicia Lopes; Kelsey Lopes; the great grandfather of Deacon & Lucas Sousa; Mya Lopes & the uncle of several nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. on WEDNESDAY here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours TUESDAY 4-8 P.M.
