TEWKSBURY: Ethel M. (Green) Sordillo, age 72, a resident of Tewksbury for over 40 years, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.
Born in Monticello, Georgia on February 5, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William Green and the late Mary Lou (Studdard) Green.
Ethel attended Marietta, GA schools and graduated from Marietta High School.
She resided in Somerville until moving to Tewksbury and was a communicant of St. Williams Church.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 20 years as an examiner by the Internal Revenue Service in Andover. Ethel previously worked at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial V.A. Hospital in Bedford.
She enjoyed knitting, quilting, cheering for the Boston Red Sox and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Ethel is survived by four children, Mary G. Berquist and her husband Richard, Joseph A. Sordillo, Jr. and his wife Denise, and John A. Sordillo all of Tewksbury, and Robert A. Sordillo and his wife Joanne of Dracut; six grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Ashley and Richard Berquist, III, and Silvia and Nicholas Sordillo; three sisters, Barbara White and her husband Larry of Kennesaw, GA, Betty Gafnea of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Harman of Covington, GA; three brothers, Phillip Green of Marietta, GA, Willie Green of Thomson, GA and Clifford Green of Rockmart, GA; her former husband, Joseph A. Sordillo of Cambridge; also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours Tuesday, April 26, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 27, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
