Anna A. (Bowden) Brennan, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Tuesday, April 20, 2011 at her home in Charlestown following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 71 years old.
Anna was born in Boston on January 6, 1940 to the late Edward F. and Anna I. (Doherty) Bowden. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. Anna worked for many years in the medical records department at the Bunker Hill Health Center in Charlestown. She had been working as a receptionist for the last 10 years at the Y.M.C.A. in Charlestown.
Anna is the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Brennan. She is the devoted mother of Jacqueline Lambert of Charlestown, Richard Brennan and his wife Melissa of Charlestown, Robin Peterson and her late husband James of Charlestown and Robert T. Brennan of California. She is the loving Nana to Mary Kate Peterson and Nora Brennan. She is the beloved sister of Eleanor McLaughlin of Charlestown, James Bowden of Boston and the late Edward and John Bowden. She is the dear friend and cousin of Peggy Venezia and her husband Fred of Derry, New Hampshire.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Anna's Funeral on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Cremation will take place following her funeral mass. Visiting hours will be on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
