Elizabeth J. Smith, 62

Elizabeth J. (Otoski) Smith, 62, of Mansfield, formerly of Everett, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.
Born in Chelsea, MA on March 7, 1949, she was a loving daughter of the late Chester J. and Helen D. (Majeski) Otoski.
Elizabeth grew up in Chelsea and Everett and was educated in Chelsea Parochial Schools. She furthered her studies and was a graduate of the Salem State Teachers College, and had also attended the Massachusetts College of Arts in Boston.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Smith was an English Teacher for 25 years. During her teaching career, she taught in Everett, Dorchester, Medford and Chelsea, and was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Following retirement she served as a primary care giver to her loving mother.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 3 ½ years, she had formerly lived for many years in Everett. Beth was a proud grandmother, enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles. An avid Red Sox fan and a fan of the music group Aerosmith, her other favorite past times included trips to the beaches on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
She is survived by her devoted son Michael T. Smith and his wife Carolyn of Mansfield and her former husband Frank J. Smith of Gilford, New Hampshire. She was the dear sister of Richard Otoski of South Carolina, Robert Otoski of Rhode Island and the late Barbara Neal. The cherished grandmother if Jacob A. Smith of Mansfield and Cassandra, Alexandra and Leandra, Elizabeth is also survived by her aunt Veronica Majeski as well as several nieces and nephews.
At the request of her family, funeral services and burial will be private. Visiting hours have also been omitted.
