Obituary

Harold E. Russell, 68, of 9 J.Hammond Road died Wednesday, April 20 in his home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Nancy A. (Stockman) Russell, two sons Richard H. Russell and his wife Brenda, and Kenneth H. Russell and his wife Robin all of Charlton, two brothers James W. Russell & Douglas K. Russell both of Charlton, three grandchildren; Brett, Daniel & Jordan Russell, two step-grandchildren Suzanne & Scott Mettel, several nieces and nephews and his Doberman “Holly”.

Harold was born in Southbridge, son of Warren D. and Thelma (Kingston) Russell. He graduated from Charlton High School and UMass Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He worked at Norton Co. for 32 years retiring in 1997. He later worked at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer for several years before retiring in July of 2010. He was a member of the Charlton City United Methodist Church. He was a member and past Master of the Oxford Lodge A.F. & A.M., a member and past Patron of the Clara Barton Chapter of the Eastern Star in Oxford and a former committee chairman of Boy Scout Troop 165 in Charlton. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working in his yard and garage, playing cribbage and taking winter vacations in Aruba. Harold and his sons just finished restoring his 1951 Ford F1 pickup.

Harold’s funeral will be held Saturday, April 23 at 10:00 AM in the Charlton City United Methodist Church; 74 Stafford St., Charlton. Burial will follow in Westridge Cemetery, Charlton. Calling hours are Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM in J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A Masonic Service will conclude calling hours at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Charlton City United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 387, Charlton City, MA 01508 or to Boy Scout Troop 165, c/o American Legion, 18 Turner Road, Charlton, MA 01507
