WEBSTER – Alexander W. Starzec, 51, of 22 Point Pleasant Road, passed on, Friday, January 23, in Saint Vincent Hospital,Worcester, after being stricken ill.
He leaves 2 sons, William A. Starzec of North Grosvenordale, CT, and Shaun P. Benton of Webster; his mother, Annette R. (Arpin) Starzec of Webster; his fiancee, Chantelle M. St.Onge, with whom he lived; a granddaughter, Natalie Grace Benton of Webster; aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, and cousins.
He was born in Webster, son of William A. Starzec, the former commissioner of agriculture of Massachusetts and also a former state representative, who passed away in 2001. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1970.
Mr. Starzec owned and operated Anacoda Ltd, and was actively involved in the beverage industry. He was the president of the former family-owned Webster Bottling Co. He also worked for Packaging Technical Service in Oxford and for the 7-UP Company of Philadelphia.
He was a past president of the New England Independent Bottlers Assn., vice-chairman of gourmet affairs for the Mass. Soft Drink Assn. He was a member of the National Soft Drink Assn., the National Beverage Packaging Assn., and the National Bottled Water Assn. He was also a member of the T.S.K.K. and the P.A.C.C. He was an avid car and boat enthusiast and enjoyed his times on Webster lake.
Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Tuesday, January 27, in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, where a funeral service will be conducted at 8:30 PM. A celebration of Mr. Starzec’s life will be held at the Colonial Club Restaurant and Pub, 290 Thompson Road, on Wednesday, January 28, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM
