Mary George Glenn Freeman Bynum, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Life Care Center.
Graveside services will be held 4 P.M. Thursday, April 21, at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Bynum was born July 9, 1918 in Wilcox County to the late Samuel F. and Willie “Miss Bill” Wilkinson Glenn. She lived in Fitzgerald most of her life. A homemaker, she worked for Freeman’s Seed & Feed Company and for the Ben Hill County Tax Commissioner. She was a 1936 graduate of Rochelle High School in Wilcox County. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school in the junior department, was a member of the United Methodist Women, the choir and was a Counselor for the Methodist Youth Fellowship. She enjoyed preparing food for the church family.
Mrs. Bynum is survived by daughter: Dr. Mary Glenn Freeman of St. Simons, GA; a sister, Eugenia Glenn Studstill of Ray City, GA; Sister-in-law, Mrs. W.B. Freeman, Sr. of Forsyth, GA; Nieces and Nephews: Cheryl & Dwight Howard, Wilkie & Dianne Glenn, Jennifer & Teddy Phillips, Albert & Pat Studstill, Helen Freeman King, William Bradford Freeman, Jr., Margaret Freeman & Kincaid Patterson, W. Franklin & Aime Freeman, and Dr. Meriam Freeman & Larry Hamilton. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Julius Alfred Freeman and Thomas W. Bynum, Jr. and a brother, Samuel F. Glenn, Jr.
