
SANIBEL, FL….Jennie (Pruchnik) Pitera, 83, of Fall River, MA died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Sanibel, FL.
Jennie was married to Stanley J. Pitera, also of Fall River. Born on July 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Veronica (Skladanowski) Pruchnik and was a lifelong resident of the city.
Jennie was a communicant of Good Shepherd Parish in Fall River and was a member of the Ladies Guild of the former St. Patrick’s Parish. She received the Marian Medal from Bishop Daniel A. Cronin in 1989 in recognition of personal dedication and loyal service to the Church.
Jennie was employed as a seamstress for 49 years, retiring in 1992. After a short retirement, Jennie then became employed by the Fall River School lunch program, retiring in June, 2010.
Mrs. Pitera was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and enjoyed Polish music and dancing. She also loved spending time with her family and many friends, as no one was ever a stranger to Jennie. Her love of life and warm touch were felt by all.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, survivors include her 2 daughters; Jean Halligan and her husband John of Sanibel, FL and JoAnne Studer and her husband Thomas of The Villages, FL, and a son S. Thomas Pitera and his wife Suzanne of Sarasota, FL. She was also survived by many beautiful grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jennie was predeceased by her sisters Sophie Czajka, Stella Waite, and Mary Sawejko.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives on Monday April 18 from 4 – 8 PM at BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River, MA. (www.boykomemorial.com). Friends and relatives are also invited to the Funeral on Tuesday April 19 at 9 AM from BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Good Shepherd Parish, 1598 South Main Street, Fall River. Internment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
