Claire J. Baillargeon, 89, of Hemond Ave., Woonsocket, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Holiday in Manville. She was the wife of the late Wilfred J. Baillargeon.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Arthemise (Duhamel) Cote. She remained a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Baillargeon was employed at Uniroyal Corporation in Woonsocket for over 25 years before her retirement.
In Claire’s free time she could often be found knitting, listening to music, playing a hand of cards, or wrapped up in a good book. She was also a member of the Royal Travelers.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Jason Baillargeon, and his wife Michelle, of Missouri, and Kim Kerr, and her husband Chris, of Kansas, and her daughter-in-law Joan Baillargeon of Missouri. She was the mother of the late Norman C. Baillargeon. She was the sister of Constance McClure and Clarisse Laverdiere both of Woonsocket, and the late Charles Cote, Therese Rogers, and Rita Cournoyer. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
