WORCESTER-Mary R. Black, 88, of Worcester died Thursday, April 14th at Radius Health Care Center. She leaves her sister, Catherine Sullivan of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Robert, John and Edward Black and her sister, Ann E. Healey predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Robert J. and Anne E. (Scannell) Black. Mary worked for the Worcester Public Schools for 15 years in the special programs department, retiring in 1987 and previously worked at Crompton and Knowles. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Colonial Bowling League and enjoyed traveling.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Radius Healthcare for the compassionate care extended to Mary over the past seven year.
Her funeral is Wednesday, April 20th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 8:30 until 9:30 the morning of the funeral in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or to Radius Healthcare Activities Fund, 119 Providence Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
