Mr. Salvatore Leone, "Sam" age 81 of Manomet, formerly of Medford, died on Thursday at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucia (Uccello) Leone.
Mr. Leone was born in Boston, son of the late Paolo and Concetta (Alicata) Leone. He lived for many years in Medford and attended local schools. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. For a time, he was stationed in Paris France.
Mr. Leone was a hard working man, self employed for many years as a plasterer. Sam enjoyed bowling and in earlier years had bowled in the Woburn lanes. He was an avid gardener and liked to travel. He used to love to dance at the dismay of his beloved wife. Sam was a big soccer fan and watched the world matches on television. He was fond of the Italian feasts held annually in Boston’s North End. Nothing gave him more satisfaction than spending time with his family including his grandchildren and great grandson who affectionately called him “Papa and Grandpa” He is survived by four daughters: Tina Michalak of Medford, Susan Kenneally and her husband Martin of London U.K., Donna McDonald and her husband Dennis of Medford, Lisa O'Toole and her husband Francis Jr. of Medford. Loving grandfather of Jennifer, Jason, Stephen & Brian Michalak, Samantha & Collin O'Toole, Callum Kenneally, Jared & Justin Sam McDonald. Great Grandfather of Nathan Michalak. Dear brother of Tina Gulino of Malden and the late Mary Rapatano. He was the cherished uncle of Paul and Tina Rapatano and Enza O'Connell. He also leaves other nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street Medford on Wednesday at 9:00 AM. Funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street Medford at 10:00 AM Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 3- 7 pm. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
