INEZ DELABARRE REESE of East Bridgewater, formerly of Medford, died on April 13, 2011 at the age of 99. Born in 1911, raised, and educated in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Mrs. Reese was the daughter of the late Ruby F. and Harry Delabarre. Upon graduating from Woonsocket High School, she attended Simmons College in Boston, graduating with honors in 1933. Moving to Boston in 1938, Mrs. Reese worked as a legal secretary for the firm of Martin, Magnuson, McCarthy, and Kenney in Boston, until retiring in 1983 at the age of 72. Mrs. Reese was a devoted member of Grace Episcopal Church in Medford from 1947 until the time of her death. She was a member of the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Medford Historical Society, Medford Women’s Club, Simmons College Alumnae Association (Class Agent for Planned Giving from its inception), the Royall House Association and many other local organizations. In 2004, at the age of 93, Mrs. Reese moved from Medford to East Bridgewater to live with her son and daughter-in-law who cared for her until the time of her death. Mrs. Reese is survived by her son, Malcolm D. Reese, her daughter-in-law, Sandra A. Reese, her granddaughter, Jaime Lynne (Reese) Conte, and her sister, Mrs. Cora Margaret (Delabarre) Shiffer. She is also survived by her nephew, Rev. Brock D. Shiffer, Jr., of Homestead, Florida, and her niece, Marilyn (Shiffer) Kemp, of Hilliard, Ohio. She was the wife of the late William Malcolm Reese who passed away on August 26, 1983.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the Grace Episcopal Church, 160 High Street, Medford, Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visting hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, April 19, 2011, from 4 to 7 PM. Interment was private.
