Passed away suddenly on April 13, 2011. Preceded in death by parents Everett & Lucille Howard. Survived by wife of 43 years, Rita; children Dwight (Jen), Dawn (Joe) Torma, Denise (Todd) Diethert; grandchildren Alicia, Mackenzie, Megan, Ethan, Jacob & Grace; brothers Robert (Sue), Lauren (Marianne), Harold (Kathy), Glen (Linda); many nieces & nephews. Retired from the State of MN after 29 years and served in the 133rd ANG for 38 years. Active member of American Legion Post 39, Thrivent and St. Mark's Church. Lifelong blood donor. Funeral Service Tuesday (4/19) 10:30 AM at ST. MARK'S EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH (Door 7W), 2499 N. Helen St., North St. Paul. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery. Visitation Monday 5-8 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, and one hour prior to service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Second Harvest Food Shelf.
