James M. Cassidy, 85, a longtime resident of North Andover, MA., passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Worcester, MA, Jim was educated in the Worcester Schools and was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst which he attended on the G.I. Bill. Jim had worked as the Chief Market Investigator for the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture retiring after 37 years. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, Jim received the Bronze Star. He was a member and Past Commander and Chief of the American Legion, as well as a member of the Andover Artists Guild. Jim was active in local politics as well as an active member of St. Michael's Parish.
The husband of the late Lorraine W. (Verrette) Cassidy, members of Jim's family include:
daughters: Patricia A. Cassidy and her husband John Trapp of Thetford Center, VT, and Deborah C. Mangano and her husband Domenick of Bradford, MA.
sons: James P. Cassidy and his wife Christine of Queensbury, NY, and Joseph W. Cassidy and his wife Paula of Camden, DE. He was father of the late Michael J. Cassidy of Danville, NH, as well as brother of the late William Cassidy. Jim is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. in St. Michael's Church in North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, also in North Andover.
