New Bedford - Maria daLuz deMedeiros, 89, of New Bedford, died Tuesday January 20,2004, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Manuel deMedeiros. Mrs. deMedeiros was the mother of Rosalinda Pacheco, wife of Deacon Eduardo Pacheco of New Bedford, Berta Camara, wife of Carlos Camara of New Bedford, Jose Manuel deMedeiros, husband of Maria doCarmo deMedeiros of New Bedford and Eduardo Medeiros, husband of Nonina Medeiros of St. Michael, Azores. She was the sister of Ressurreicao Menezes of St. Michael, Azores. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was born in S. Roque, St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Santo Christo) deOliveira and lived in this area since 1973. She worked in the Paul Modes Pocketbook factory as a stitcher.
The funeral for Mrs. deMedeiros will be Saturday January 24, 2004, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rivet St. New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours will be Friday January 23, 2004 from 5 - 9 P.M.
