Obituary

Lillian M. "Lil" (Welch) Boutilier, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died suddenly on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 85 years old.

Lil was born in Boston on November 14, 1925 to the late Michael F. and Lillian M. (Orpen) Welch. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools. Lil has been a homemaker most of her life, dedicating herself to her family. In 1984, in it's first election ever, Lil was elected the First Mayor of Charlestown. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of American Legion Post # 26 of Charlestown, The Charlestown Schoolgirls Association and The Bunker Hill Irish Heritage Society.

Lil is the beloved wife of the late Leonard G. Boutilier. She is the devoted mother of Lillian King of Weymouth, Leonard Boutilier of Charlestown, Lorraine Pacini of Malden, Lori Buckley of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Christina Boutilier of Manchester, New Hampshire. She is the loving Grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of John Welch, Theresa Lang, Joseph Welch, Ned Welch, Pat Welch and the late Mildred Wall, Richard Welch, Michael Welch and Leo Welch.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lil's Funeral on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m.
