Joan Murray, 75

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Joan (Riccard) Murray, 75, of Mansfield passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at home.
Born in Boston, MA on June 29, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Rachel (DeCiuccis) Riccard.
Joan grew up in the Roxbury section of Boston and was educated in Boston Public Schools. She had made her home in Mansfield for over 45 years.
In addition to raising her large family, affectionately known as the “DEM family“, Mrs. Murray had also worked as a Machinist and Supervisor at Acorn Manufacturing in Mansfield for over 25 years prior to retiring.
Joan’s family was the essence of her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was anticipating the birth of her 24th grandchild and 22nd great grandchild.
Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and making crafts, which were always the favorite gifts given to her grandchildren. Joan also loved trips taken to Cape Cod beaches and will be fondly remembered for her exceptional cooking skills.
The Murray family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice of Attleboro and St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield for all the love and kindness shown to Joan.
She is survived by her devoted children Donna E. Fisher and her husband Robert of Mansfield, David E. Murray and his wife Darlene of Mansfield, Douglas E. Murray and his wife Michelle of Attleboro, Debra E. Dowdall and her husband Joseph of Attleboro, D’Wayne E. Murray and his wife Cindy of Pennsylvania, Dennis E. Murray of Florida, Denice E. Parente and her husband Stephan of Mansfield and Darryle E. Murray and his wife Amber of Pennsylvania. The dear sister of Harold Riccard of Mansfield, Jeannette Burns of Rhode Island, William Riccard, Richard Riccard, Ronald Riccard, Diane Cochren and Paul Riccard all of Florida and the late John, Theodore, Daniel and Patrick Riccard, she is also survived by her cherished 23 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday April 16th from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
A service will be held on Saturday evening at the conclusion of visiting hours at 7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Joan’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Community Visiting Nurse Agency, Inc., 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
