John P. "Jack" Sheehan, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died suddenly on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 71 years old.
Jack was born in Cambridge on August 16, 1939 to the late Francis and Wanda (Boyce) Sheehan. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. Jack enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on March 6, 1957 and proudly served his country. He was discharged on March 5, 1959 with the rank of Private First Class. Jack worked for many years as a printer for Estabrook Printing Company in Boston and also tended bar at several locations in the Somerville area. Jack cherished his time with his family, always willing to help out in anyway he could.
Jack is the beloved husband of 48 years to Mary A. (McCormick) Sheehan. He is the devoted father of Sheila Greene and her husband Joe of Melrose, John Sheehan and his wife Liliana of Florida and James Sheehan and his wife Kerri of Charlestown. He is the loving Grandfather of Melissa Sheehan. He is the beloved brother of Francis Sheehan and his wife Joanne of Scituate, Paul Sheehan and his late wife Evelyn of Somerville and Sheila McGonagle of Charlestown.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jack's Funeral on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
