Eugene Langston “Gene” Dudley, age 79, of 1505 Westover Drive, Danville, died Monday, April 11, 2011 in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born January 27, 1932 in Danville, he was the son of the late Alexander Speck and Mildred Dudley. He was a graduate of Brosville High School and served in the US Army from 1951 until 1970, with one year in Vietnam. Mr. Dudley was employed as a security guard with Advance Security.
Survivors include one son, Frederick Lee Crabb and his wife Ruby, and one daughter, Sylvia Jean Strader and her husband William, all of Danville;
Grandchildren: Ruby Katina East, Sylvia Lynn Strader, Jonathan William Lee Strader; great-grandchildren: Kevin Shane Milam, Hunter Lee Milam, Shalyn Rayne Milam, Austin McKenzie East, Timothy Daniel East; brothers: Barry Speck and Keith Speck and his wife Tori, all of Penhook; sisters: Sylvia David and her friend Tom of Penhook, Carolyn Walker of Penhook, Brenda Perdue and her husband Dickie of Gretna, Sharon Moore and her husband Davis of Gretna, Wanda Cook and her husband Troy of Penhook, and Trudy Hedrick and her husband Vernon of Chatham; his longtime loving friend, Priscilla Wagoner; his step-mother: Katherine Speck; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two grandchildren, Patrick David Strader and Frederick Lee Crabb, II.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Duane Blevins will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, with graveside military honors by the American Legion Post 1097 Honor Guard, will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. At other times, they will be at the residence, 1505 Westover Drive, Danville.
